Okay we all know the story here. This is pretty close to a shoot for shoot remake for the 1994 movie except for the super cartoon moments in the first one. That's okay, i think the movie looks cool with the real animals, or photorealism, whatever it's called. The animals looked like animals so I understood why people think it's strange they where speaking English but honestly those complaints why always going to be present never made sense to me. Yes, the mouth movements and lack of emoting is there but again animals.
I did have on complaint and maybe it was the lack of emoting on screen but I felt as if Glover and Beyonce both fell flat in their roles as Simba and Nala. It just felt lacking and a bit phoned in. Once again in his role as Mufasa, James Earl Jones knocked it out of the park. He continues to sound regal and powerful in the role while getting across the sense of pride he has in his son.
I normally don't like Seth Rogen, but him and Billy Erlich are a great duo as Timonen and Pumba. They play off each other well but watching this basically confirms it for me, Seth is best in a supporting role.
Overall it's a 4 star movie for me, worth the see in theaters, but to be honest this should be covered by a more technical movie viewer writer. It hit the right sound and dance and the story still is top notch so it gets a top score from me.
