Alright, back to movie reviews, and becoming the next Roger Ebert and maybe pick that Pulitzer. Hmm maybe not, I know my audience really only cares about whether the movie is entertaining so here we go.
Movie starts off with Kaya Scodelario, as a swimmer for the university of Florida whose mascot is a gator. The race she is swimming, the front crawl. Yeah, this is one of those movies that hits you over the head with stuff and overall the script is very stight forward. That's okay because as my Friends know I want to go see this movie for Kaya, one of the prettiest faces in Hollywood and maybe the most beautiful eyes. Those Ana de Armas fans, okay fan, that is going to read this don't text me saying how much you disagree.
Kaya goes looking for her dad when Florida gets hit by a cat 5 hurricane. Well her dad is trapped in the crawl space by a couple of gators. This is when the jump scares start happening, never knowing when the gators are going to appear again. At times it's commically about the rescue schemes and watching them. The good news is it is a quick hour 47 minute run time and once the action starts it just keeps building anticipation to next gator scence.
My favorite scence is when Kaya hops in the boat and the line she says is just hilarious. I don't want to give it away but my friends from high school will be hearing me say it on the basketball court. Don't want to ruin the surprise next time we ball.
Love Kaya and her and Berry Pepper work off together well. The problem is the movie doesn't give them much to work with. I stilled enjoy and when it comes on the sci-fi channel after sharknado 6 next year I'll watch. I just won't go out of my way to watch it again.
Go see it if you have a free summer night and a subscription movie plan. I enjoyed it.
4 stars out of 5
