Stories to Tell in the dark: a not really scary, scary movie?

Ready or not than Stories to tell in the dark guess I was on a horror kick for a week and it's not even October yet! This movie though was not the scary and to me was a bit of a dud. The problem was the main character was the person who caused all the trouble and the only bad thing that happened to her was two of her friends went missing and have not returned. I did not feel like there was any lesson for her. She was just a static character who failed to develop in any way.

The problems start when the kids get locked in the basement of the haunted house where if ask Sarah Bellows to tell you a story she will kill you by the town bully. So it goes after the group one by one. Now I personally did not find anything scary about this movie or funny. The story did do much for me. The scariest part is the first story and maybe the second had a good jump scare but there was no build up of suspense.

I think as much as this movie was about this movie it was also about trying to build to a squeal, as the ending left it open to future episodes. This feels like it would better as a tv show than a movie. The stories in that case could be both crisper and more developed. I think that is the better way to have done this.

Overall it gets a 1.5 stars from me. I am never going to willing watch this movie again but if it comes out as the same concept but a TV show, I'll watch. As is I am not interested in watching any more of this series.
