Ready or Not : Hide and Seek is actually a very scary concept

This is not the first story that has turned the concept of Hide in Seek to a horror story. Think about how many stories are based of the Most Dangerous Game. Well this is another one. When a family makes a deal with the devil, the devil always collects his dues and in this case it is the requirement to play a game every time a family member gets married. This time it is hide and seek. The De Lamas family must hunt down and kill the newest member of the family Grace (Samara Weaving). Grace through is not going down without a fight.



The interesting thing about the movie is the interplay between the blood De Lamas and the people they married and how they feel about the ritual. If you married into a death cult, I hope you would not be as enthusiastic to go along with the family tradition. Fortunately I don't think I'll ever have to find out about that but it is now a first date question: "Does your family have a deal with the devil that may end up with me being murdered by your family on our wedding night?" I am sure that won't backfire but if they haven't seen the movie what are they doing with their life anyway.

I thought the movie was going to be more suspenseful than it was which was okay because it turned out to be a cartoonist expression of how this would play out. The movie had some funny moments and the ending was great. I am not going to spoil it for you but either your jaw is going to drop or or going to laugh.

Now to the acting. Samara Weaving, did a fantastic job. I don't think I have ever seen her in another movie but she brought it in this one. Does amazing job of getting across the feelings that some one would be experience in this situation but brings it together and brings the fierceness that needed to put up a fight. I am going to look up what else she is in because she was great at this.

Now Adam Brody, did a great job playing the alcoholic brother who didn't seem to care about the tradition or the ritual. I thought his character was funny and actually supplied a few of the actually twist in the movie. Overall his character tried to provide some morals for the family but because of his past history it is clear he cannot be the moral compass of the family.  Overall this family is way gone and to ingrained in tradition.

I really enjoyed watching this movie and it is one that if pops on TV I would watch. Check it out when you can and you will find yourself engaged with the story. You will not be disappointed.
