Whole Hog Cafe: Burnt ends Cheesesteak

So after trying the brisket cheesesteak at Seymors, I went down to Whole Hog to try the burnt ends cheesesteak that they serve. I was always interested in ordering it but never felt called to order it.

The cheese sauce on this was actually really good. It looks like it is whiz but I don't think it is. It has a more of chedder taste and on the bottom there is another slice of a spicier cheese. I am not sure exactly what cheese that is but it gave the sandwich a good kick. The best thing about the sandwhich was the burnt ends of course. As always Whole Hogs Burnt ends star. I feel like they have a great flavor and are very tender. What I found interesting is instead of taking using a classic cheesesteak roll they went with the sandwich bun, like Donkey's Place except without the sesame seeds, which is probably a good call because the burnt ends are not cut like the traditional cheesesteaks. That being said it makes for an odd comparison for the classic ribeye steak. That being said I do prefer mine sliced to chopped and this is more chunks but it is close to sliced so that gets points from me. This is a solid sandwich and get lunch option. I will certainly give this sandwich another try and look forward to it.

4.5 bones because I really do love melted cheese!

    1. They called it a cheesesteak, from now on I'll refer to it as a cheesesteak substitute or cheesesteak imposter
