Turning classic board games into drinking games: Acquire

Acquire is a great game that seemingly no one knows about. even through it is almost as old as Monopoly. Well a quick rundown of the game is the point is to purchase stock in hotel chains and make the most amount money when there is mergers of the hotel chains. The person with the most money at the end of the game wins. It is pretty easy to play and it makes a lot of sense as you play.

On each turn you place a number on the board, if you place it next to another tile it either creates a new hotel chain, expands the current hotel, or merges two or more hotels together. The player than has the opportunity to buy stock in any of the hotels that are on the board. That's essentially a turn. Give it a run through with the rules first to get a hang of it.


Alright well now to put the drinking in the game. Simple regular game so simple drinking rules.

First when the b4 tile is played everyone takes a drink if the player says not after but B-4. If they fail to say it, they finish their drink if the other players catch the mistake. I played a lot of bingo as a child.

When another player creates a hotel chain, all other players take a drink. If you have ownership in that chain force another player to take a drink.



If you are not the majority or minority share holder in a merger take a drink.

If you are the minority holder in a merger give a drink to any other player; majority shareholder give two.

Merger of the big two

When you don't have enough money to buy more stock take a drink.

When you realize that you can't win the ownership battle in a stock but have bought more than the require amount to win the minority ownership take a drink.

When a player does not trade in, or sell all of their stock after a merger and recreates the hotel chain on their next turn, take a drink as you hate this player. If it is you think wow, I am so smart and take a drink.

Cheeky

When the game is over everyone gives a drink for each hotel chain they own stock in.

This would be 7 drinks!
