Let's start with Turkey since they went out first (okay Austria forgot the game started so they lost first but we are not counting them):
Alright let's see the first moves:
Alright we have an interesting start to the game, Con-Bul and Ank -Con while keeping Smy in place is an interesting start and not moving to Bla is a clear sign that Russia and Turkey are trying to work together. Italy looks like they are preparing to invade Austria. Maybe it is mistake to waste the unit in Smy but he could be slow playing the open. Let's move to next year.
Alright interesting moving the fleet to Bul south coast, that indicates a strong bond between the Russia and Turkey. Let's see how this goes. The two builds is a nice start grabbing two while it be better is the army was in Bul that why he could get to Ser next year with ease to continue his growth. Nothing major that shows this player is doomed.
Alright, so Turkey went with an Army in Ank and fleet in Smy. Russia was kind and did not build in Sev so it looks like there may be a good agreement between the two powers. I think this the first mistake by Turkey and it is a mistake that runs throughout the game. His moves are basically predicated on Gre-Ser, if that move fails none of the other moves will work. I think a good mantra for the game is maneuver in the spring and capture in the fall. A better move would have been to bounce Italy out of Ser but move Bul to AEG, and Smy to EAS, that way he could at least match the power of Italy's fleets. (even with the agreement with Russia I would try to keep a fleet in BLA just to balance the advantage Russia has in the alliance.) These outcomes would have put Turkey in a better position for the fall and should have put him in position to have Russia move against Germany leaving the South alone.
Okay this turn makes it clear that Turkey has no clue about what they are doing and that includes the bad orders and convoy to Ger and the invalid support by Bul. They do get the center in Ser but they are in a bad position moving forward. The further expansion of the empire is contained because of the failed prior moves. Russia is moving troops down on them and it does not look they are good friends anymore. Not a good look for Turkey.
Well this is interesting, it looks like Russia is trying to work with Italy and Turkey, and cannot get everyone on the same page. That Vie supporting Gal to Bud should have Turkey on Red alert. Overall I think this was a good turn for Turkey, it is the first time that they were able to move their troops closer to where the action is.
Okay, I have no clue what Turkey was thinking here, I am going to assume Russia said to attack Bud with Ser and they will support with Ser but than again they are supporting with Bul so it seems like they just don't know what is going on right now. They should have been able to defend both Ser and Gre this move and stayed level instead they somehow lost two. Instead of attacking with Gre they should have used either AEG or EAS to attack ION with support from the other and GRE and the results would have been significantly better. Major mistakes across the board here. Turkey could have been in the driver seat here with Italy showing weakness. Instead Italy has gained the upper hand and Russia sees more major weakness. Let's see the fall out.
So Turkey was forced to take a defensive position and honestly there is not much left for them to do. Again they add to the problem by not knowing the rules. It may have made some sense to support AEG Bul but there is no way he could stop Russia, Italy from taking a center. Now it just a matter of time till they pick him apart.
Alright, Turkey is doomed, they are lucky or unlucky that Italy is not playing more aggressive with this. This could be over in 1905 for Turkey unless something crazy happens and there is little he can do except turn Italy against Russia before he gets finished off.
How does Italy decide to team up with Russia and not get any of the Turkey pie. This just does not seem like a good trade. Well let's just see how they take out Turkey. Not much more to say about them.
Staying alive for another turn despite not doing any thing. This is very odd, Italy dropped the ball here for sure.
Hmm, still can't figure this one out.
Well there it is the fall of Turkey. They could have defended it by they gave up a while back. There wasn't much they could do at this point.
I think looking at the game we could point to the mistakes where it came to supporting trying to attack some of Austria. It is odd that a country that did not have anyone playing caused such a problem for Turkey. There was a lack of a plan on Turkey part. The major mistake through was in 03. When he lost 2 centers needlessly that year things were not looking good.
Well I am going to do this for the rest of the countries in the game. I hope some of the competitors give some comments on what they thought was going on. Let me know and look back here soon for the breakdown of France.
