Well the video had me thinking how I would spend the money. I am going to make the assumption that one of the requirements is that you have to spend a majority of it on what is considered good content meaning I can't just buy Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Tesla stock or a broad market index fund. So investing most of the $510,000 in the stock market is out. (That is the amount after taxes that I am going with) Well that being said I would max out my 401k and Roth IRA. In 2019 that would be a little less than $10,000 so let's round up for simplicity sake and have half a million left to spend.
Alright, I already have a pretty new car, under 2 years old so I would not go and buy a new one, no matter how much I want that baby blue Camaro, it's just not practical for me to have two cars and one would go to waste and this should not be a wasteful exercise. What I would do is pay off the 15k I still owe on the car. Talking about debt I would take of my brother and sister's student loan debts so that would be about 85k, so down to $400k. It's okay to pay off other people debt that would be good for the views.
Next it's time to go look at some property. No I'm not going to buy myself a house to live in, I need to create some rental income. Yes, there some of you reading this saying what a minute I thought you said you couldn't invest all the money. Remember the part about the stock market. Of course I remember that because that's what I would do if there wasn't the good for views restriction. You know what would be good for views go rental home shopping. The Home Improvement Network has about 7 different shows with this basis so this is turning into an episode of house hunters.
Here are some example of places that I would be looking at:
I may actually buy one of these if they are still on the market in March.
This one would be good because I would likely use it as a summer rental which would mean I would need to buy furniture for which would be even more content for the channel.
Okay reader I know what your going to say, that one is more than what you have left there is no way you could afford that place. Well my dear readers, I am not paying cash for the property, I am getting a 30 year mortgage and putting 20% down so it is likely that I would buy several properties that have multiple units putting the 20% down for all of them. Well let's say I spend about $300k in properties which means at 20% down would be about $1.5 million in properties and all the tax benefits that come with it. If you want to know more about the benefits of rental properties check out biggerpockets.com but I am not going to expand on it. Again going to assume 1% rule so that would be 15K a month in rent, half is likely going to expenses so 7.5k in free cash flow. Super conservative 5k to principle payments so an extra 2.5k a month.
That leaves $100K left to spend and it needs to be fun spending to bring the magical youtube hits.
1st get myself, brother and dad some bespoke suits, that fit perfect say $7k for the 3 of them.
2nd get myself a nice watch maybe something like this:

Actually there is no chance I could every wear a 30k watch on my wrist even if I could afford it, just way to expensive to wear in my everyday life maybe something more like this:
or
something in the 5k range.
That leaves a about 88k left.
I would pick up a smoker:

That's just one that I thought look cool.
I would also pick up this bad boy:
)
With the accessories that is going to run me around 8k so 80k left. Time to move to best buy!

This 72 inch TV for $2300 what other goodies can we buy...the Samsung Galaxay 10 is about $500 so pick up 3 of them for me, mom, and brother. Sisters and dad are apple people so they are not getting new phones from me. I guess i'll get a Nintendo switch and some games for around $1000. I would wait for the new xbox to come out so save $2k for that because I'll need to buy games too.
Speaking of games time to pick up some board games, well actually just put 5k to the side for the games because I just got a bunch and so I have to see what ones I would want to add to my collection. No I am not going to spend all that on board games I need some of it to buy new friends to play the games with.
How is there still 70k to spend...
Well realistically I would give away some to charity but that would be a no fun way to end the article. I guess I could buy some stuff for my cousins, aunts and uncles...nah let's spend some more!
So let's pick up a new set of irons. The top Calaways are 1.5k so toss them in the cart as well as a new driver for $500 so that is 2k. Golf membership for 3k and 1k for lessons.
Alright the next 4k is going to upgrade the wardrobe again. New shirts that are tailored to fit, ties, belts and shoes so down to 60k.
I would need new cameras for the blog and lessons on how to take pictures so let's call that 10k.
Would buy the ghostbed luxe mattress and some new pillows, sheets and box spring so about 3k.
I wonder how much money it would cost to build an escape room and minigolf business. I hope 57k is enough to start it because that is what the rest is going towards. I'll give breakdown of what that would look like once I design the course.
I think that is a half a million well spent. Get some cool stuff and create a passive income stream of 2.5k a month and a new business opportunity that should interfere too much with my day job.
Let me know what you would spend the money on below or what you think I should have done with the money.
